Cleanings & Exams
Healthy gums are part of a healthy body. We evaluate your gums and advise which type of cleaning as well as the recall time in between the cleanings to provide optimal tissue health.
Crowns and Bridges
A crown is placed on a tooth when there is not enough tooth left to do a filling, such as when there is a fracture or a cavity.
A bridge is used when one tooth is missing and the gap is surrounded by two healthy teeth. A bridge is actually three separate crowns that are permanently hooked together.
Dental Implant Crowns
A dental implant crown is a crown that goes on top of an implant placed by a periodontist or an oral surgeon. This implant is then restored with a crown or bridge at our office.
Inlays and onlays are partial crowns for teeth that are missing too much structure for a filling, due to a fracture or a cavity. However, these teeth do not require a full crown.
Tooth Colored Fillings
All fillings done in our office are bonded into the tooth and blend naturally with the unrestored tooth. We do not use black or silver fillings.
Sealants & Fluoride Treatments
Sealants are coatings painted onto grooves of a newly erupted tooth in a child's teeth. The sealants cover the tops of the teeth and prevent sticky foods from getting trapped in the grooves. The sealants help protect against biting surface cavities.
Fluoride is another preventative treatment used for children. Fluoride treatments are offered at the end of a cleaning. Fluoride is a vitamin that strengthens the tooth.
Veneers are thin shells that are bonded onto front teeth when there is deformity or discoloration.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canals are performed on teeth that have cavities into the nerve of the teeth or on teeth with dead nerves. Nerves of teeth can die from trauma, such as being hit in the mouth. When a root canal is performed, an opening is created either in the back of the tooth or on the chewing surface. Then, the bad nerve is cleaned out of the tooth and filled with gutta percha, a root canal filling material.
An extraction is the removal of a tooth that is not restorable. A tooth that is causing a great deal of pain can also be removed if no other solution is available.
Oral Cancer Screenings
As part of our normal exams, an oral cancer screening is performed to identify abnormal tissue in the mouth, face, and neck regions.
Periodontal treatments are performed while the gums are anesthetized. These treatments clean the tooth structure below the gums. Sometimes an individual will build up a great deal of tartar, especially if several years have passed since the last cleaning. This treatment removes the accumulated material and enables the person to start a routine cleaning schedule.
As part of the routine exam, we check your jaw joint to make sure that it is functioning without pain.
Several types of nightguards are offered to suit different people with variable sizes of mouths and preferences. A nightguard is made to offer protection to both the teeth and the jaw joint and worn at night while asleep.
